In the paper physical and optical properties of thermocromic liquid crystals for wall shear stress visualization are briefly described. The short review of experimental techniques for measurement of magnitude and direction of shear stress vector is presented. Some examples of application of shear stress sensitive liquid crystals developed at ITAM are shown.
