Algorithms for bubbly flows investigation with planar laser induced fluorescence

The correlation-based PTV processing algorithm within Planar Fluorescence for Bubbles Imaging (BFBI) technique was elaborated for studying bubbly flows. The algorithm includes procedures of bubble identification and determination of bubble positions and sizes, bubble tracking and correction of bubble displacement vectors. Besides, several schemes for calculation time optimization were suggested. Developed algorithm allows to identify and track highly overlapped and non-uniformly illuminated bubble images. Employed correlation and iterative approaches make it possible to achieve high sub-pixel accuracy.
