Physical principle and applications of achromatic null interferometry

Physical foundations of new null-interferometer schematics are presented to suppress strong background signal in order to detect a weak companion signal. Achromatic phase modulation is obtained by means of geometric phase modulation in an out-of-plane-plane Sagnac interferometer. Potential applications and experimental results are discussed.
